Nice vid but he glossed over a lot of things which maybe he assumes people
know. For instance when he mentioned that his chuck is setup for square
tenons instead of dovetails, he could have gone in and explained that in
more detail. If he assumed people knew what he was talking about then why
even say anything about the tenon at all?

I have to second those comments already posted, what a great instructional
video this is! Finally a video that explains in detail the basics of bowl
cutting, GREAT job guys! As Mr. Jokerst said it “It helped me breakthrough
some mental blocks on bowl turning.” That is right on!

  3. Ryan Walsh says:

    Sweet! Thank you!

  4. Tim Yanasak says:

Thank You. I appreciate the detail explanation of these basic cuts, I find
it helpful to stop and “rewind” then re-watch until I feel that I’ve “got
    it”.

  5. T Jokerst says:

Excellent demonstration! One of the best instructional videos I have
watched. Nice camera angles, speed and repetition. Very clear
demonstrations of how the tool needs to move through the wood. It helped
me breakthrough some mental blocks on bowl turning. Thanks!

  6. rex bradburn says:

Do you do a shear cut on all woods, or just most. I’m working on a black
walnut and I’m reluctant to try it…

  7. Josef Roesler says:

That guy’s cuts are like butter!

  8. robohippy says:

I am surprised at how much time the featured turner spends standing
directly in the line of fire while turning. Maybe because I learned turning
sloppy wet wood (where are the wind shield wipers?!). For me it is a huge
    safety feature.

Great review. Thanks, keep up the good work.

  10. Jesus von Nazaret says:

    hold the tools
